No luck at International GT Open Barcelona
Last weekend Peter startet again for Leipert Motorsport together with Fabian Hamprecht in the last round of the International GT Open championship at Barcelona.
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP600 FL2 worked well at the circuit in Catalunya and the team found a good race set up, the car working well on the long runs.
Peter as well as Fabian qualified P8 which were ok positions for the race starts.
For the first 70min race on saturday Fabian took the start and gained a place and easily could stay with the pack. After a good stop Peter came out and could immediately gain places, as conditions were very difficult with a low standing sun.
After the stops had been done, Peter found himself in third place overall and second in class!
In the process he had overtaken an Audi which was a lap down, however the Audi tried to overtake him back what resulted in a spin, an unbelievable move from a car who was a lap down! Resulting in a disappointing 9th place.
For sunday things looked better, as the team also saved their best tyres for the sprint race.
Peter had a good start and gained immediately some places, however long before the first corner he was hit on the left rear which send the Lambo with terrifying speed into the wall.
Luckily Peter could walk away from the shunt, which could not been said for the poor Lamborghini.
The team had, obviously, hoped for a lot more during this last race from the GT Open championship.
