Win at Spa for Leipert Motorsport
Last weekend Peter took the wheel of the Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 to compete in the sixth round of the International GT Open Championship at Spa Francorchamps.
Fabian Hamprecht took the start of the First race on Saturday in which they had an extra 10sec penalty during the compulsory pitstop due to their second place at Silverstone,so it would be very hard to secure a top position, especially as Fabian was turned into a spin after a move on the opening lap.
When Peter took over at the stop the team had a problem with changing the wheels which unfortunately, cost them a lot of time.
After two laps it started to rain and a heavy crash at Eau Rouge meant the safety car was deployed. A lot of teams decided to change to rain tyres, Peter however stayed on wets, and was the fastest car on track, which resulted in eight place.
Peter took the second start on Sunday on a damp track and opted, again, for slick tyres. After some scrambling at the start Peter took the lead in GTS class after two laps and immediately opened a gap.
Now the pitstop was faultless and Fabian had a commanding overall lead for the last part of the race.
He drove well, but could do nothing against the faster Super GT car of Montermini, who was flying, also not helped by the fact that a Russian Bear Ferrari held him up for a couple of laps.
Still he finished a strong second overall and First in GTS!
